"Tribute to The Canton Palace"
My name is Terri Howard and I want to welcome you to my gourd art Website. I draw primarily on gourds using colored pencils. I make different items out of the gourds including ornaments, birdhouses, containers, vases, and lighted gourd lamps. My gourds are created one at a time and go through several stages...cleaning, dying, drawing, and polyurethaning. Others are dremeled, woodburned, or airbrushed. The majority of my artwork is original and realistic in appearance.
For those of you unfamiliar with a gourd, it is a vegetative product of a plant and grows very much like a squash or pumpkin. But there the similarity ends as gourds are not edible. After they are done growing a gourd is left to dry which takes several months. It is thru this drying process that the gourd gets its hard, almost wood-like shell. The shell makes the gourd suitable for many practical uses and has been used as a spoon, bowl, vase...even a musical instrument.
I hope you enjoy viewing my work and if you have any questions please use the Contact page to send me a message or you can send an email to gourddrawing@gmail.com. Thank you for visiting my website.
